ABOUT ALICIA

Marketing has the power to both influence culture and make it. However that job can not be done without an informed and targeted approach - a strategy. One that brings to life the core tenants of a brand while simultaneously reflecting the aspirations or characteristics of consumers. 

Over the past several years I’ve worked at advertising agencies such as Ogilvy and United Entertainment Group to spearhead strategies that have helped some of culture’s biggest brands including The North Face, BMW, Roc Nation, PepsiCo and Pernod Ricard find their voice in culture.

I’ve always believed that strategy is simply about connecting the dots, getting a brand from point A to point B. To strengthen my ability to do so I’ve gained experience across the full spectrum of strategy including brand, creative, engagement, experiential and influencer.

Strategy is not just a job for me, its a creative outlet that I’ve used to walk in my purpose, reach back to communities that I cherish and help drive the change in the world that I want to see. We often joke in the industry that as marketers we should relax a little more as we’re “not saving lives”. But I know the power that a message can hold, the way it can show up at the right time and the right place and make you feel a little less alone and a little more powerful. Marketing has done that for me, my goal is to do the exact same for others.

THE INVSIBLE THREAD 

The Invisible Thread is a digital content series created by Alicia Harris that goes behind the scenes with leading strategists to uncover how the world’s biggest brands and cultural icons become what and who they are. Alicia created the series in September of 2022 in order to shine a light on the strategists of color whose minds have produced some of the world’s biggest brands that culture knows and loves but whom rarely receive the recognition they deserve. 

After just one season, The Invisible Thread has proven itself to be not only a much needed in-depth look into business and strategy but also a key source of mentorship for strategists and creatives of color as they navigate their way throughout the field of strategy and industry as a whole.
